ICELT Graduation

After six months of intensive study, the 31 ELTIS Master Trainers completed the Cambridge ESOL ICELT and TOT course on 14 December 2007. In addition to these courses they also participated in workshops on Teachers as Agents of Change, Gender Training, and HIV/AIDS Awareness.

The Cambridge ICELT course involved a number of written assignments and observed classroom teaching practice.

Between 2008 and 2009, the ELTIS Master Trainers will be responsible for designing and delivering in-service English language upgrading and teacher training courses for junior secondary teachers in Islamic schools in selected districts in East Java, Lombok and South Sulawesi. ELTIS aims to train between 750 and 1,000 English language teachers by the end of 2009.

To celebrate the end of the course, the whole team, their tutors and other guests, including Geoffrey Crewes, CEO of the IALF, Denise Finney, ELTIS Director and Sue Rodger from KGI, had an evening of good food, relaxation and entertainment at Jimbaran Beach.
